Guilford Young College Interactive Map and Informational Media

Guilford Young College is a co-educational Year 11/12 senior secondary college with two campuses, one located in Glenorchy and the other in Hobart. This Catholic College would like to have an interactive map developed that they can integrate with their web page.

The map would serve three purposes:

  • to allow parents, future students and others from the wider community to navigate around either or both campuses, getting an idea of where different parts of the College are located;
  • to gather information on the resources the College has to offer; and
  • to serve as a marketing tool to promote the College and, to this end, the interactive map should show the College in the best way possible.

    • At present, staff members spend a lot of time giving new or prospective students and parents tours of the College. Through developing this map, it is hoped that there would be less need for this time consuming task. People should be able to find out the type of events run at GYC, the accomplishments of College students, as well as resources and services offered. The map should be a valuable source of information for local, interstate and overseas students wishing to join this senior secondary college.

    Technical Information

    The map needs to be able to run within a web page. To this end, Flash or Java Applet are suggested. However, if the group has another preference, this may be negotiable. The software will most likely incorporate text, photos and/or panoramas of rooms/ areas. Another point of negotiation may be whether the environment is navigated in 2D or 3D.

    Intellectual Property

    The client wishes to retain IP for this project.
