Background

Team medical has created a virtual version of a paper-based training scenario within Second Life. This will be used by UTAS nursing students. This project aims to enhance the learning environment by bringing it into the 3-D world. This world will emulate a more realistic social learning experience for all users. The project is a medical like room where we have created a virtual medical interactive device, known as the Life-support Machine.
The creation of this medical training environment will be within the Second Life. The project will be conducted to a level which will be operated by UTAS honours and nursing students. This environment will make the training a safer experience for all.

Release Two is the initial steps into a virtual training for the School of Nursing and Midwifery. With future releases this project will, with further development, have the possibility of turning into a full working version of a virtual Training Hospital in which Nursing students can learn in a life like environment and ultimately gain real life skills online.
