Progress Report
Software Engineering Project B

Weeks 22 to 25(Final Report)
In the last weeks of project the work has steadily increased, MERS input screens are fully functional and all necessary fields are validated. We encountered a bit a snag with the reporting and the printing of reports, but we have overcome this by using Internet Explorer to handle the printing and that also means we can format the reports in HTML. When a report is generated it needs to be stored in a folder, most probably on the local hard drive, implementing a method to create a folder or directory turned out to be a bit of problem as permissions to create folders differs depending on the computer being used and the level of access the current user has. However it can be overcome by setting an absolute path to find the temp folder on the hard drive.

During our supervisor meetings, our supervisor made some valid points about the final state of the software and the benefits, or more to the point who is most likely to benefit from using the software. Change generally creates tension and we have to give some thought to setting up a rollout or training package of some sought. Most likely we will provide a powerpoint presentation for the nurse educators and other training staff to use during information and training sessions, work on this should commence at the same time as the user manual.

Work on the poster began slowly, but it didn't take long for that process to gain momentum, and the poster was completed in a fairly short time. Meanwhile the final touches for demonstration day began and included getting some "live" data from our client, and getting the general flow of demonstrating the software. Now we are on the home stretch, but by no means ready to relax

Demonstration Day
A few minor hitches at the start of the day had the potential to create great anxiety among the team, but the ever cool head of the technical manager took control of the situation and the problems just faded away and paved the way for a smooth day. A lot of positive feedback from honours students and other current students, as well as from some of the invited industry people and the academic staff was all very encouraging and allowed us to appreciate the work we had done. Hobart demonstration day gave us the opportunity of meet more of Tasmania's IT professional and was also very encouraging in terms of potential employment or research.

During the final week of the semester, we will complete the user manual, system manual and prepare for the hand over of the software, either late in the final week or during study week.
