Croquet
is a sport that has been around in its present form since the
1850’s. In Tasmania,
the first official clubs were formed at the beginning of the last
century.
Croquet
Tasmania (formerly Tasmanian Croquet
Association) is an association of the nine affiliated croquet clubs in Tasmania. The basic aims of the association are
to promote and control the game of croquet in Tasmania, including the
conducting of State tournaments and competitions.
Croquet Tasmania uses a relatively unique system to handicap its players so
that they can compete against each other on an equal footing. Our client, Mr. Maurice Woodmansee,
has spent the last eleven years developing a handicapping system that is as
objective as possible. To do this
he has developed computer software that automates handicapping calculations
as well as performing other administrative tasks of the society.
This project involves the re-development of the existing system in a
web-extensible development environment using current technologies and the
implementation of modern graphical user interfaces to make the interaction
between users and the system easier.
