Our client, the City Doctors and Travel Clinic, have asked us to create a website for their surgery. This website is to be smart, innovative and contain various information about them, their services and any other information they see fit. The website will be dynamically generated. All the information the client would initially like on the site will be stored in a database. This will then be extracted and displayed on the screen as the user navigates through. The intention behind this is that the amount of scripts created be few, keeping the site relatively small and easily updated.

The major component of this project is the online booking system. The client has recently purchased new medical software in which they will implement as their booking system. Our online booking system will integrate with this software taking advantage of some of its features. The concept for the online booking system is that a user will be able to choose a particular date, a doctor and see what times are free and book it for themselves.

The client indicated that they would also like several other features available on the site:

• Vibrant Graphics and some animation
• A means of posting messages internally (without the general public accessing it)
• A mailing list so that the user may sign up for any medical updates (eg. Information on an viral outbreak that may have occurred within the region)
• A catalogue of the products sold at the surgery (in order for future e-commerce features to be added)

To make the site updateable we are planning the development of a graphical administrative console. Not only does this provide a way for the client to be able to update the site relatively easily, but also the client will not require knowledge of any Internet based language.
