CIS aspires to be a world-class provider of graduates equipped for employment in Information and Communications Technologies roles and a world-class participant in research activities which contribute to the world's Computing and Information Systems-based knowledge and skills.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of CIS to work within the environs and processes of UTAS to:

Be an attractive choice for students - Tasmanian, Australian, and international - that offers a high-quality educational experience to students and which produces sought after graduates equipped for careers in ICT;
Contribute to and enlarge the body of Computing and Information Systems knowledge, applications, and management, so that CIS staff members are sought for advice on matters of ICT expertise and policy and for engagement with stakeholders to assist them in the provision of ICT solutions to their problems; and
Foster a culture of respect for students and staff where opinions and contributions are valued, group spirit is nurtured, and individual ambitions are encouraged for the benefit of all.
