Computing and IS Honours in 2009 Information Session

All completing IS and Computing students are invited to a session in the School video conference rooms (room 473 Centenary Building in Sandy Bay, and V137 Building V, Newnham) at noon on Friday 17th October to hear about the advantages that to be gained from studying an honours year in 2009.

This session will be followed by pizza and soft drink in the Centenary and Building V lunch rooms where students will have the opportunity to talk to members of staff and current honours students about the experience of the honours year.

AUC Announces iPhone Tech Talk Support

Apple have announced two one-day iPhone Tech Talks in Sydney on 19 November, and Melbourne on 21 November. The AUC is offering each member University four subsidised places to send staff and students to these talks. The subsidy consists of financial assistance in covering return economy airfares and accommodation (if required).

If you are interested in attending, you must submit an application form (available from here) to Tony Gray (email address in the application form).

Human Interface Technology Unit Offered as Part of Creative Arts Summer School

The School of Computing and Information Systems and the newly formed Human Interface Technology (HIT) Lab Australia will be offering a summer school unit entitled "An Introduction to Virtual Reality and Advanced Media Technology" as part of the Tasmanian Creative Arts Summer School. The summer school is being held 14 - 23 January 2009.

Programming Assistance for Students

The School has organised sessions for students to get programming help with assignments, starting August 5. Any student may turn up to these sessions and get help with anything programming related. First year students are particularly encouraged to get help when required. It doesn't matter if you can't get a computer in the lab, still approach the tutor as they will have a computer that they can use to help you. The tutor will be wearing a name badge. Session times and locations:

Please use these sessions if you need help. Remember you can also ask your lecturer for help during their consultation hours.
